Blimey! It's nearly Christmas already .. and, well, I've got some presents bought. But what is going on with the weather?
When I were a lad ... [cue old-man voice] ... all this was fields. Oh, and we had snow. Real snow .. stuff wot went "creak" when you trod on it. Dahn Sarf all we get is a wind-and-rain combo. Pah!

We don't need no education ...
Well, I'm chuffed. My wife educates two of our kids at home. This is still regarded as a bit hippy (suits me).. but here's an example of how we can do better than schools:
They were reading "Thieves of Ostia" by Caroline Lawrence. Kieran wrote a review of the book. Show me a school who would publish the review on amazon .. and I'll take these words back!

Rip it up and start again ...
OK, OK. Let's just pretend that was "R&D" .. and begin again.
So: on to my life. Well .. bits of it. And my loves and hates. We could start with a Nice Cup of Tea and a Sit Down. Mmmm Nice [as in biscuits ;^)].
Oh, FWIW, the editor thingy seems to works fine in Firefox. Hurrah!
I guess y'all would like to know whose blogs I read .. well, dontcha? Oh, well - please yerselves. 'M gonna tell you anyhoo. Check out: Stray Toaster and/or Maternally Touched. Husband-of-friend-of-wife and wife respectively.

A week goes by ...
Oh dear. Not a good start. That was last Tuesday and already I've failed to meet my at-least-one-post-per-week ideal.
What I wanted to do next was lay out the indended purpose of this blog - and who I imagine the audience to be. As an aside, I hope that good spelling is not one of the metrics by which this blog is judged.
So: what should this blog provide? Well, this is something of an experiment, so I can't be too ambitious. I'd say that I want to offer more than just a series of opinions, or a diary of my life, or a list of links to stuff I've found - or been directed to - on the 'web. Oh, and I'll try to avoid using too much jargon: not, you may note "the interweb", but "the 'web".
Hmm .. that all sounds rather pompous. Let's just say that I'm going to try to write the kind of stuff you'd expect to hear in a pub conversation, in language you'd expect a pub conversation to use.

Creating this blog ...
Well, well, well. So this is a blog.
It didn't seem tooo difficult to set up .. but I was a little disappointed that the editor didn't work in Mozilla. More specifically, that blogger.com didn't detect that I was using Mozilla, and offer the HTML editor instead ...
Ah, well. All sorted now.
